Breeder and Horticultural Award Program Corner
Doug Lee, BAP/HAP Chair
The Sacramento Aquarium Society's (SAS) Breeder Award Program (BAP) and Horticultural Award Program (HAP) encourages the propagation and dissemination of fish and aquatic plant species, exchange of information regarding their propagation and husbandry, and serves as a means for recognizing the accomplishments of club members toward these goals. Participation in the BAP and HAP enhances member's enjoyment of the aquarium and pond hobby.
BAP and HAP forms are available in Microsoft Word and an alternative plain text format. A link is provided to the left for both form formats. The MS Word forms were created so they could be easily filled out on a computer that is running Word 2000 or later. With these forms you can tab from field to field, and use pull down menus to select options. Once the form is filled out, save a copy to your computer, and then email me a copy for a digital record. The "Plain Text" forms are for members that do not have MS Word. The plain text form can be opened and edited with any text editor. If you have questions about the forms send me an email or give me a call.
Spawning and Plant Reproduction reports are now being added to the web site to share the information with other hobbyist. These reports can be referenced to find out information on how other breeders have bred different species of fish, and how to reproduce plants. See the menu to the left for the link to the "Spawning Reports" and "Plant Reports."
With digital photography being so easy today, taking a few pictures of your fish, or plants and submitting them with your spawning or plant reproduction report is an easy way to pick up an additional 5 points. When submitting photos to be posted on the web site please send them to me with no greater resolution than 72 dpi. See the SAS article online "How to Email Photos" for easy to fallow instructions. Please email or call me if you need assistance. If you write an article about your spawning or plant reproduction for the Tropical News, you can pick up an additional 5 points. If you submit photos to Martha Volkoff (Tropical News Editor) for an article they should have a resolution of 300 dpi. If you have any questions about fish/aquarium photography feel free to email, call, or come talk to me at the general meeting.
If you have any questions please send an email to Doug Lee.
